The most eagerly-awaited international event of the year is coming soon! Expo 2015 will take place in Milan from May 1 to October 31 and will welcome millions of people from around the world, visiting the exhibition halls to share experiences and different cultures.
The event’s theme “Feeding the Planet – Energy for Life” underlines the importance of spreading the culture of good and healthy food while respecting the planet.
Just recently, Discovermarche pointed out how the Marche Region appears to be an excellence, not only within Italy but also in Europe, in terms of quality of life and environmental protection, perfectly confirming the slogan of Expo 2015.
We haven’t missed our chance to meet some important female leaders from our Region who, through their professional adventures, tell the rest of the world about the Marche.
Today we are going to share with you the story of the Velenosi winery and her leader: Angela!
Angela Piotti Velenosi
Angela Piotti Velenosi, businesswoman and manager of the company Velenosi of Ascoli Piceno, started the business of producing wine with her husband Ercole in 1984. A double challenge: producing high-quality wines in the Marche, where only wine cellars and wine from cask were produced, and make her way in a man’s world, as the one of winemaking. It ‘a challanging task but Angela can count on her passion and determination.
The adventure begins with a small winery that covers an area of only 5 hectares. Right after the company starts producing high-end D.O.C. wines and this choice proves successful!
In 1990 Angela gets her first major recognition by becoming member of the national “Ladies of Wine” Association. Since then a number of right choices, and, in short, Angela becomes the ambassador of the Piceno wine and of the Marche in the world. Meanwhile the vineyards extend to 105 acres, the turnover rate spikes, mainly thanks to exports, and the Velenosi confirms its leadership status thanks to the charisma and skills of Angela.
“To us wine is an art able to make people dream. We wrote it and we believe it deeply: it is indeed the foundation of our company, which starts from tradition, from ancient teachings taken with imagination and dynamism, to be turned into the scent of a glass of wine. ” And again:” Wine is our only passion. And our passion makes wine unique.”

The commitment to quality and promotion leads to a production of over 2.5 million bottles a year and the presence in 45 countries in Europe and around the world. On top of such dedication, passion and professionalism, Angela Velenosi even was decorated for his service to the industry (an award called “Cavaliere del Lavoro”) by the Italian President Giorgio Napolitano.
Later, she was also appointed President of the local Consortium Piceni Wines.
A successfull woman with a strong character, schiude and very determined, who deserves without any doubt the assignment of representative of our extraordinary land!
