“Ancel Keys, an american psychologist and Flaminio Fidanza , an Italian food scientist and university professor from Le Marche. They are the inventors of the “Mediterranean Diet”. Mr. Keys was in Italy at the end of World War II and met Mr. Fidanza. In Naples they started a survey which showed that the “cholesterol was influenced by dietary consumption of saturated fatty acids” as explained in the book “The Mediterranean Diet.
