Senigallia immediately recalls the famous “Spiaggia di Velluto” (Velvet Beach) and the iconic “Rotonda a Mare”, a charming building constructed in the 1930s and symbol of the Belle Epoque during the 60s, thanks to the artistic and cultural vitality of the city. From the sky the Rotonda appears to be like the mark of a shell on the sea: it became a ‘milestone’ for the city and nowadays it is still the place for parties, expectations and dreams.
Every year Senigallia celebrates this unique place during the “Notte della Rotunda”, a party with many events from dusk to dawn. Among these: magnificent baroque fires on the sea, many shows and music around the city and all stores opened to entertain the thousands of citizens and tourists visiting for the occasion.
Senigallia is a top destination for carefree holidays in the sun, sea, good food, romantic evenings and a bit of culture, which is always a plus. Here the atmosphere is very soft, just like the sand of the famous “velvet beach”, famous worldwide for its fine sand.
Thirteen kilometers of golden fine shoreline and crystal clear sea, over which the coveted Blue Flag flies, as a guarantee of water quality and virtuous environmental management.
Guests have access to more than a hundred accommodation including hotels and campsites. Not to mention the many bathing establishments, bars, restaurants, pizzerias and discos.
The summer stay in Senigallia is the ideal occasion for swimming, windsurfing, beach volleyball, water skiing. For sports lovers there’s the opportunity to play tennis, horse riding, bowling, bocce, table tennis, football, basket and skating.
Besides the sea, Senigallia also offers a delightful old town to its visitors, just behind the beach and within easy reach by foot or by bicycle.
In Piazza del Duca visitors can admire the “Palazzo del Duca” and ‘Palazzetto Baviera”, a Renaissance treasure with its precious ceilings.
The Neoclassic period exhibits its charm thanks to the “Foro Annonario”, from where you can admire the “Portici Ercolani”, 26 arcades in white Istrian stone bordering the Misa river.
The Foro is an all-rounded square with arcades, housing a fish and a local market during the day and becoming a relaxing location where to drink something at night, while overlooking the square.
From here you can easily reach the “Rocca Rovere”, with its charming pier and connected to the square outside. This is a castle in the city that today hosts exhibitions and other cultural events.
Do not miss the sunset in the company of the “Sirenetta” (the Little Mermaid), better known as the Penelope of Senigallia, a statue by Gianni Guerra that “watches” on the pier since 2004.
Senigallia is also the Olympus of fine cuisine! Welcome to the gourmet capital of Le Marche region: a gastronomic destination for all good food lovers! Fresh and simple dishes with high quality ingredients both from the sea and the hinterland.
Among them: the famous “brodetto senigalliese” (fish soup), grilled fish and Adriatic mixed fried fish, as well as roasted goose.these are just a few tastes to discover, accompained by wines able to satisfy the most refined palates, such as the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi and Bianchello del Metauro, or reds such as Lacrima di Morro d’Alba and Rosso Conero.
Senigallia is…a unique location that embraces, conquers and pushes to return here for an unforgettable vacation!
A special thanks to the Municipality of Senigallia for their support! You can find more info here
